My Friends in Jesus, Please come to know the Holy Spirit more than you do. He is more than a Name in Prayer; He does more than Pray in other languages. And if you have experienced the New Birth (Spiritual – following Repentance when you Accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour) He resides In You whether you Pray in other Languages or not. We can’t separate Deity (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) rest assured, He is With You and In your Spirit.

To me, He is a wonderful Companion – both Naturally and Spiritually. Jesus said He would not leave us alone. We need to Acquaint ourselves with Him as the following:

The Holy Spirit (Paraclete – paráklētos in Greek) promised by Jesus to be an Advocate, Helper, Counselor and Comforter for us. The word literally means “one who is called alongside of us” signifying Active Support and Intercession. It is found in the John’s texts in the New Testament and can also imply someone who Defends and Pleads a Cause.

Key Meanings and Functions

  • Advocate/Intercessor:

The Paraclete acts as a Defender or one who Speaks on our Behalf, a role also seen in Christ Himself as an Intercessor (1 John 2:1).

  • Counselor/Teacher:

The Holy Spirit is sent to Teach Believers, Reminding them of Christ’s Words, and to Guide them into Truth.

  • Helper:

The term highlights that the Holy Spirit provides Active Support and Empowers Believers.

  • Comforter:

The Paraclete provides comfort and encourages believers, assuring them they are not alone in their faith journey.

Biblical Context

  • Jesus promises to send the Paraclete to be with His Followers ALWAYS before He went to Heaven.
  • The world cannot receive the Holy Spirit because it does not see or know Him.
  • Functions of the Paraclete include Bearing Witness to Christ, Convicting of Sin, and Revealing God’s Will.

Just now as I’m writing, I remember a short Prophetic Word that was given in a Service a few decades ago “I cannot Rest on a troubled spirit”……..we need to learn how to “Be Still” and Quieten our spirit when we are Upset, Disturbed or Troubled.

There is a Scripture that says “Acquaint yourself with Him, and be at Peace – His Goodness shall come to you. Lay up His Words in your heart” not so much your cares and concerns.

Scripture says “In Quietness and in Confidence shall be Our Strength.”

Did you know that reading Scripture can quell that anxiety we sometimes experience within?
Yet many Christians seldom do this and they wonder why they do not feel close to Him.

Psalm 46:10 says “Be still, and know that I am God”
Sometimes we need to be not so restless. We need to Come Aside with Him.
And reading Scripture gives us a way of Screening Out thoughts that Crowd our Minds.

Isaiah 30:15

English Standard Version
For thus said the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel, “In Returning and Rest you Shall be Saved; in Quietness and in Trust shall be your Strength.”

Berean Standard Bible
For the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel, has said: “By Repentance and Rest you would be Saved; your Strength would lie in Quiet Confidence”

New American Standard Bible
For this is what the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel, has said: “In Repentance and Rest you will be Saved, In Quietness and Trust is your Strength.”

In Isaiah 30:15 God said He wants us to Be Willing to do this. OK?
We have a way of occupying ourselves with Everything Else
and also doing things in our own strength.

John 14:27

English Standard Version
Peace I leave with you; My Peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

New Living Translation
“I am leaving you with a Gift—Peace of Mind and Heart. And the Peace I give is a Gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.

New American Standard Bible
Peace I leave you, My Peace I give you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or fearful.

Christian Standard Bible
“Peace I leave with you. My Peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Don’t let your heart be troubled or fearful.

Contemporary English Version
I give you Peace, the kind of Peace only I can give. It isn’t like the peace this world can give. So don’t be worried or afraid.

Good News Translation
“Peace is what I leave with you; it is My Own Peace that I give you. I do not give it as the world does. Do not be worried and upset; do not be afraid.

International Standard Version
I’m leaving you at Peace. I’m giving you My Own Peace. I’m not giving it to you as the world gives. So don’t let your hearts be troubled, and don’t be afraid.

NET Bible
“Peace I leave with you; My Peace I give to you; I do not give it to you as the world does. Do not let your hearts be distressed or lacking in courage.

Weymouth New Testament
Peace I leave with you: My Own Peace I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled or dismayed.

Berean Literal Bible
Peace I leave with you; My Peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, or let it fear.

So Jesus said this Peace He Gives Us does not come from the World – it does not come the Usual Way – it’s Dependent on His Presence. Come Aside often and Be Still with Him in Simple Trust whereby you can find the Confidence and Strength. And His Peace can Rest on your Spirit
IN HIS PRESENCE.
