Philippians is my favorite book of the Bible. To me, the Apostle Paul shares his Victory Recipe in Phil 3:13 and Phil 4:4-9
Therein are precious Gems if you read those verses of Scripture closely.
3:13 ……….. I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead………. 4:4 Always be full of joy in the Lord.
I say it again — rejoice! 6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
8 And now, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable.
Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. 9 ……….Then the God of peace will be with you.
NLT (New Living Translation)
The Following are Inspirations and Meditations I’ve had on those Verses at different times.
Sometimes I like to Meditate on how these wonderful Verses can help others.
I will call each one a Paraphrase. Be blessed!
1. PERSONAL PARAPHRASE
Forgetting things past, Rejoice with Jesus everyday. Refuse to be anxious, and commit everything to prayer,
presenting your requests with Thanks – expecting His Goodness. Think of things True and believe in the Good Report.
Things of Virtue and things of Praise.
Yes, do these things and His Peace will be with you. Praise Him Always and Keep Rejoicing!
Don’t give yourself time to be anxious – dwelling on things negative. Expect Him to Move in your moving and show you His Favor and Loving Kindness when you commit everything to Him in Faith and Trust. Blessed be the Name of The Lord, He is my Strength and Song.
In forgetting things past, He gives me Victories. Purpose to meditate on things Good everyday and Keep Moving with Him.
2. PERSONAL PARAPHRASE
You will do well if you keep standing firm, forgetting things past. Yes, dismiss everything that disturbs
– don’t dwell on any of those things. Instead, think of all the lovely things –
ways The Lord has blessed you; promises He has given to those who are Faithful; things to look forward to.
Yes think of things glad instead of sad, and let these things shape your prayers and expectations.
Purpose to Rejoice each day, simply because you have become His Child, dearly loved by Him, and you will be at Peace.
Let Him guide your thoughts – never let them disturb your Peace – the Comforter has Come.
3. PERSONAL PARAPHRASE
Dwelling on things disturbing is not good for your Walk in Jesus. Upsetting things from the past; keeping grudges;
negative thoughts about things present or future. Instead, you need to think about things wholesome like bright Sunny days and blessings of Nature; nice things someone did for you; pleasant days to remember or moments you have enjoyed; things to look forward to in Heaven.
If you dwell on these things, it will displace other things. Yes, think about good natured people you’ve met, and the Goodness of God.
Let His Loving Kindness permeate your thoughts, and shape your prayers when you make requests to Him.
This way, you will find yourself thanking Him for a positive outcome instead of feeling poorly.
Yes, He gives us things to Rejoice about – think of those.
His Peace will enfold and encompass you. Give Him Praise.
4. PERSONAL PARAPHRASE
4 Be glad in the Lord, always Rejoice! Practice gladness everyday, leaving no room for worries or discontents. 5 Let the presence of Jesus in your heart and life be evident to those around you, by your gentleness – always let your words be gracious. The Lord is always near.
6 Be not anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, giving thanks, present your requests to The Lord. 7 And His Wonderful Peace will be yours. Yes He will settle your thoughts. You won’t have to work everything out, for His Peace surpasses our understanding – you will find it will guard your hearts and minds in the person of Christ Jesus. That’s the way He is when you leave your concerns with Him instead of grappling with them – that is not for you, Child of God.
PERSONAL INSPIRATION
Instead of thinking of things that waste your time, and allowing yourself to be distracted, think about wholesome things and spend each day wisely with quality thoughts. Plan and structure each day, and Purpose your day around God.
At the start of each day, ask yourself how you can best spend this day with The Lord, remember things you have purposed and planned to do,
so the hours in this day don’t slip away, and things will be accomplished.
So many days slip through our fingers by getting distracted and going off-course with something that appeals for the moment and lures more time than intended. That is not the way to build a Good Day, a Satisfying Day, a Prayerful and Purposeful Day.
So spend each day wisely and ask the Holy Spirit to help you keep on track. Then you can close the day in Thanks for a day
that has been truly lived – a rewarding day, for starting it the right way and following through. Praise His Name!
PERSONAL INSPIRATION
Keep your thoughts flowing happy, peaceful and positive. Settle any anxious thoughts by turning them to prayer
and committing them to your Father’s Care and leaving them with Him. His shoulders are bigger than ours.
Don’t allow yourself to dwell on things upsetting, negative thoughts and sad thoughts lessen your peace,
sap your energy and strip away motivation.
What shall I think of? Things that are lovely, things that are true and up-building, things that are of a Good Report,
virtuous and praiseworthy. Yes cherish these things. That way, you won’t leave any space for the other.
Hold fast to those things that are pure and precious and your peace won’t slip away,
for the God of Peace, Joy and Comfort will be with you.
